BIBLIOGRAPHY
Professor Teoh Swee Hin received his B Eng (1st Hons) and PhD from Materials Engineering
Department, Monash University, Australia in 1978 and 1982 respectively. He is presently
Professor and Chair, School of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering, NTU. He is also a Fellow
of the Academy of Engineers Singapore. Prior to this appointment, he was the Director of
Renaissance Engineering Programme (REP), NTU (2012-2015) where he developed the REP
curriculum to align globally to the integration of engineering and business, producing a new
breed of entrepreneurial engineers for Singapore. REP has become the top engineering
programme in Singapore. He was the Founder Deputy Director of Institute of Materials Research
and Engineering (IMRE) (1997-1998).
Prof Teoh’s research focussed in the fields of Biomaterials, Bone Tissue Engineering and Bioreactor Technology. He is well known for his outstanding contribution to the development, commercialization and clinical translation of 3D bioresorbable scaffolds for bone defects repair. Prof. Teoh and his team set up Osteopore International Pte Ltd and also obtained FDA and CE mark for the scaffolds. Recently, he was featured as one of Singapore’s profiled scientists in the book titled “Singapore’s Scientific Pioneers” as a part of SG50 celebrations.
He was honored with the Special Award for Scientific Life-Time Achievement in Bone Tissue Engineering at Bone-Tec 2015, Stuttgart. He received the prestigious Golden Innovation Award, Far East Economic Review, and the Institute of Engineers Prestigious Engineering Achievement Award in 2004, for development of the platform technology for scaffolds in bone tissue engineering. He has supervised more than 60 postgraduate students filed 10 patents, given more than 50 keynote/invited lectures and published more than 300 technical papers.
He is an excellent teacher with numerous Excellent Teaching Awards. He also contributes significantly to professional bodies. He is presently the Chairman, Singapore Academy, Asia Regulatory Professional Association (ARPA). He sits in as board of editors Tissue Engineering, Journal of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine, Journal of Mechanical Behaviour of Biomedical Materials, Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Research and Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers Part H: Journal of Engineering in Medicine.
